Dhilen Mistry's Library Fundraiser
Help Revitalize Dolores Huerta Elementary School's Library
A message from Dhilen:
"When I was in elementary school, I was an avid reader. I spent most of my time, especially from kindergarten to second grade, in the library. I got to know the former librarian there very well, to the point where I would walk in every or every other day and she would pick a selection of new books for me to choose from. The library, to me, was not just a place to check out books, but a place of quiet and calm. In addition, it was used by every class as a learning center. We would have book fairs, author signings, and hold our school’s special events here. I did not think much of it as an elementary schooler but as a high schooler, working with Access Books has shown me that not all kids have access to these amenities.
When I volunteered at these elementary schools I decided that I wanted to start something in order to promote the cause of equal opportunity and access to education."
Please consider donating to support the transformation if this underserved library -- every $10 donated puts a brand new book on the shelf. Donors of $1000 or more will have their company logo or name incorporated into a mural or canvas in the library.
Dhilen and the Access Books team will be working on-site at Dolores Huerta Elementary on May 4th, 2024. If you are interested in volunteering with us, sign up here. Space is limited.
